It has been a good summer for growing hops- so far.
Good producers over the few years I’ve had them, my hop plants have exploded this hot, New York summer.
In addition to providing me with more hops than I could dream of homebrewing with, the bines make a great privacy wall for the deck.
The plants are mildly dry from the recent drought, and there has been pest damage typical to what I’ve experienced in past summers. However, I’m still expecting a big crop. Maybe this will be the year I attempt a wet-hop ale.
Hard to believe they’ve grown from small rhizomes to the towering plants they are now in just a couple of years.
